Strategic Plan Data Equity Scorecard
Our project aims to bring the social and historical contexts identified as root causes of educational disparities to light through informed data collection and use to develop data-driven solutions to existing instructional equity gaps.

This project built on previous DEI-focused work at the institution and connects to the following language in the institution's strategic plan, diversity statement, and values:

"To foster student and graduate success, the university provides a hands-on, project-based learning environment and emphasizes innovation, scholarship, and applied research. With a commitment to diversity and leadership development."

Diversity statement: "Oregon Tech is committed to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive community of students, faculty, and staff, where each person is welcomed, valued, and feels a sense of belonging."

Values: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - Welcoming and empowering individuals of differing backgrounds, identities, and life experiences.


Development of an institutional equity scorecard consisting of leading and lagging indicators in five primary areas, including:
- Student recruitment
- Academic KPIs
- Social and cultural KPIs
- Faculty and staff KPIs
- Institutional efforts

Lessons Learned

Lessons learned include:

The initial challenge was designing the scorecard taking into consideration an alignment to OIT's new strategic plan. Trying to include all relevant data points that needed to be collected.

Getting access and collecting the scorecard data - New processes needed to be developed for data collection.

Designing how to score the alignment to the strategic plan in order to measure the institution's performance in the current state and progress made.
